The vow of poverty – an invitation to let go.
The vow of poverty speaks of our desire to give God the first and foremost place in our life. Of course, it is important and necessary to earn money, to have a job, and to be able to earn one's own living. We Sisters too have income, pensions etc. However, through the vow of poverty we make the conscious choice nor to be solely dependent on money and possessions.
At the same time, the vow of poverty is also a sign of our solidarity with all people who have to live in real poverty.
Just as Jesus himself was poor, possessing nothing as his own, we too try to have a simple life style and to share among ourselves and with others what we possess, - not only our money, but also our time, our talents, our life.
